Why is Karen Hicks Consulting your Solution?
For more than 25 years, my career was in the human/social service sector. It was always important to me to be part of something that was about supporting those who did not feel supported, connected or understood. This is still important to me.
As my career developed, I began to spend more time looking at the ways in which mission, vision and values were demonstrated inside the organization as a catalyst to achieving outcomes that funders and donors wanted, and as a catalyst for organizational health.
It’s Not Enough to Have Employees Recite Vision, Mission and Values Statements
What I’ve come to understand is that it isn’t enough to have a vision, mission and values that employees can recite as a prerequisite to achieving organizational objectives. The people within the organization need, first, to feel supported, connected and understood. When people do not feel these things, they do not trust…it’s biology. Without trust, organizational evolution is painful.
It’s said that the values of an organization can be seen in its budget. More than this, the values of an organization are seen in its actions. People and teams, appropriately supported and mentored, make magic happen.
